At Divinity Recovery, Inc., we offer sober living for those who are transitioning out of inpatient rehab and need a bit more support. Sober living programs help clients transition from inpatient rehab to independent living. Sober living acts as a bridge between the two.
What is Sober Living?
Sober living is a program designed for clients who are leaving inpatient rehab but who may need more support than they would have in their day-to-day life. If that is the case, they will enter a sober living program. These programs offer sober living housing where they will practice full independence while peers/supervising staff keep them accountable to their sobriety. A resident will share a common goal with their peers, and that is to remain sober while preparing for life in the outside world. This provides a safeguard against relapse and can provide personal space needed to build a new life based on sobriety.
How Does Sober Living Work?
Sober living programs function off of set rules and regulations that are set to help keep residents on track to life-long sobriety. These rules and regulations also protect the other residents staying in the community. Some of the rules include random drug and alcohol screenings, which means no drugs or alcohol at any time. Partaking in drugs or alcohol will lead to discharge from the facility. Household duties are expected to be performed to help the residents feel a sense of achievement and responsibility. The residents will also be expected to participate in support group meetings and therapy sessions as assigned during discharge from the inpatient facility. All of these rules are set to help residents build healthy life habits and to stay away from drugs and/or alcohol so they can begin the transition back to day-to-day life.
